We’re Better Together

July, 2025

Dear Friends and Fellow Good Trouble Makers,

Today, I want to share my first blog post, where I’ll tell you about two events: this month’s house party and next month’s discussion of On Tyranny.

House Party

On Thursday, July 24, my friends Beth Coger and Monique Jones hosted a house party where we shared why I’m running for Justice of the Peace in District 6 of Washington County and how people can help.

Why am I running?

I shared that I’m running because I don’t like how leaders in Washington, DC are treating people. I want to lead differently here, by treating people how I want to be treated.

If I win, then I’ll treat people how I want to be treated, and I’ll lead by my values:

  • Justice: I’ll treat everyone fairly.

  • Kindness: I’ll listen to everyone.

  • Humility: I’ll learn from everyone.

And, I shared that I’m running because JP Ecke voted not to declare Washington County a “welcoming community.”

If I win, then I’ll welcome everyone, because I believe we’re better together.

How can people help?

Beth shared a $2,500 match challenge: an individual donated $2,500 and challenged others to donate, too.

The challenge was met: we have raised more than $2,500!

Thank you to friends who have donated! If you have not, then you can here.

Tyranny Tuesdays

On Tuesday, August 5 (we rescheduled to September 2), my friend Hayley Hall and I will host the first of four meetings to discuss On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder (available at Fayetteville Public Library and Pearl’s Books).

I hope that the meetings will encourage us to say no to tyranny, and to do democracy, together!

In our first meeting, on Tuesday August 5 (we rescheduled to September 2) from 12 to 1 pm, we will discuss chapter 1 to 5 at Fayetteville Public Library on the first floor (where the deli was).

All are welcome! For more information, and to rsvp, please see the events page.

Thanks for reading!

We’re better together,

Lowell Taylor
